China implementa aranceles temporales a plásticos industriales de EU, UE, Japón y Taiwán

(BEIJING) - On Thursday, China announced that it will begin imposing temporary tariffs on imports of industrial plastics from the United States, the European Union, Japan, and Taiwan, following a thorough "anti-dumping" investigation that lasted several months.

The temporary tariffs on polyacetal copolymers will take effect on January 24 and will range from 3.8% to 74.9%, depending on the country of origin and the company, according to a statement from the Ministry of Commerce. The practice of "dumping" involves selling a product at prices lower than normal or even below the cost of production in order to gain market advantages. The affected plastics can partially replace metals such as copper and zinc and are used in various applications, including automotive components, electronics, and medical equipment, as indicated by the ministry.

This move by China highlights the significance of global trade policies and how they impact the competitiveness of both local and international industries. Companies need to stay alert to changes in tariffs and regulations, as these can affect their profit margins and market strategies.
