Who is Octavio Romero Oropeza? He is the current CEO of Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex) and was appointed by the elected president, Claudia Sheinbaum, to lead the National Workers' Housing Fund Institute (Infonavit).

Romero Oropeza, originally from Tabasco, is an agronomist engineer who graduated from the Higher College of Tropical Agriculture in Cárdenas. He will be replacing Carlos Martínez Velázquez at Infonavit. Born on January 20, 1959, he took over the leadership of Pemex in December 2018. Before his role in the oil industry, he served as the chief official of the government of what was then the Federal District under the administration of Andrés Manuel López Obrador. He has also been president of the State Committee of the PRD in Tabasco and served as a deputy in the Chamber of Deputies from 1994 to 1997; additionally, he is one of the founders of the National Regeneration Movement (Morena). The future head of Infonavit was a professor at the College of Sciences and Humanities of Tabasco and at the Juárez Autonomous University of Tabasco.
